Savannah Center. Bring cards or games and if you wish a treat.

The Villa Escandido community is unique within the Villages because
of the friendliness and interrelationship amongst our
neighbors. Many of our activities are listed below; however, our
activities do not stop there. Some activities are not
scheduled or occur on special occasions so are not listed.
You will find them discussed in the monthly news letter, The Loop
Scoop, and posted on our web site under Loop Events.
We have had three
cruises, one to the Caribbean, one through the Panama Canal and one
on the Mississippi River. Other events include picnics,
driveway parties, sunset parties, polo parties, night golf and
anything else that we can think up that sounds like fun.
A brief history of the Loop.
In the beginning,
Lou DeMarco, was instrumental in forming the social group we call
"Loopers". He encouraged neighbor to meet neighbor, put on social
events and have a good time while getting to know each other. Jim
Hubbard started a little neighborhood newsletter he named "The Loop
Scoop" to publicize various events. When he thought there was enough
news to release, he issued one. There was no format, it was hand
carried to every Looper by himself and Joanie his wife. Now it's a
formal monthly publication.
Sandy Turner started the first meetings when she asked the Sumter
Sheriff's office to present a program on safety. This was so popular
that it was decided to form a social group, The Loopers.
Jim's wife Joanie was elected
as the first Loopers President, and she asked Jim to lead the
meetings; he led the Looper’s monthly meetings for 2 years. His main
object was to keep the fledgling Loopers group together. He was
successful and with other volunteers, notably
his wife Joanie, Dick Habusta
Ann Romanak, Wayne and Carol Spiecher, Jim and Carol Grimley,
and now Don Frakes, Carol Christman, Marc and Gloria Weatherall the
Looper’s group, now renamed Conchas/Loopers continues to be a
success.
Henry and Nancy Purdy are maintaining our loop history.
John Sullivan maintains a Loopers residents listing. Copies are available from John.
The Loop Scoop, our monthly news letter is prepared and distributed by Will and Kitty Evans.
The loopers maintains a list of reliable suppliers. Suppliers who have proven, within the loop, to be reliable. John Sullivan maintains this list. Copies are available on his front porch.
I might also mention that we have Looper shirts and flags which can be obtained from Wayne Speicher.
So you can see that we are really active. We would not have so much if it were not for the quality people in the Loop. We hope that you will join us in the activities of your choice.
We would like an opportunity to welcome all of you to the Villa Escandido. Extend a welcoming and helping hand as you move in. Please contact Carol Grimley.
